Dr. Ricci May was born and raised in Nashville, TN. And yes, she has seen Reba at the dentist and Carrie Underwood at her prom dinner. Every summer that she can remember, her family drove to a new national park for wildlife watching and birding, sparking her interest in all things animal, especially birds. In 2014, Dr. May graduated from Cornell University with a BA in General Biological Sciences. While in college, she was actively involved in raptor care and educational programs, guide dog training, and horse-back riding. She worked as the pre-veterinary intern at the Nashville Zoo during her year off after college. In 2019, Dr. May graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. While in school, she was the avian Vice President of the avian, wildlife, and exotics program, and she helped organize a national veterinary student exotics symposium. Additionally, she traveled to 15 countries in Africa, Europe, and Asia with the International Veterinary Students’ Association. She spent a month in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe studying their vulture populations. Her externship time was spent at the University of Minnesota Raptor Center. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her cat, Layla, and her family in Orlando. Dr. May is excited to join the St. Charles team!
